Why I’m Bringing the Blog Back

I’ve been thinking a lot about how fast everything feels lately. How the internet turned into this loud, busy place where everyone’s trying to talk at the same time. Somewhere in there, we lost the quiet.
I've always loved to write and I miss when people used to write. Really write. Not for clicks or reach or engagement, but just to share something. A thought, a story, a photo that meant something.
I miss that.
I think there’s something nostalgic about blogging, especially for us millennials who grew up with the internet. We watched it change, shape-shift, and speed up until it barely resembled what it used to be. We were there for the beginning of Facebook, Tumblr, Myspace, and the kind of personal storytelling that felt intimate even through a screen. Maybe that’s why this feels comforting and familiar in the best way.
So, I’m bringing the blog back. Not because it’s trendy, but because it’s not. Because I want a space that moves slower, where things can breathe. Where I can tell the stories behind the pieces, or talk about the weird magic of color, or just write about something small and human without worrying if it’ll perform.
Learning doesn’t always come in 90-second reels or fast-paced, visually stimulating clips that beg you to click a link. Sometimes it comes from sitting still long enough to absorb something, to let an idea settle in before you move on to the next thing.
FernFloraFurnish has always been about soul, about spaces that feel lived in, about things that have history, about the quiet corners that make you exhale. This feels like an extension of that.
No algorithms. No noise. Just me... here... again.
If you’re tired of trying to perform for the algorithm and just want to actually learn from each other again, I’d love to hear from you. Tell me what you want to learn about, what you’re curious about, what feels confusing or inspiring about design, color, collecting, or creating a home with meaning.
It’s fun posting the funny reels and sarcastic carousels (and I’ll keep doing those, don’t worry). But what I really enjoy is teaching and learning together. I want this space to feel like a conversation again.
So if you’re here… Come in. Stay.
